The problem

The internet democratized journalism. It didn't democratize standards. Every day, billions of people read, share, create and act on content with no reliable way to evaluate its construction and credibility.

That is not a media problem. It's a structural one — and it's never been addressed.

We call it the informational wild west. And JET is built to help navigate it.

What JET does

The Journalistic Evaluation Tool assigns a credibility score to any piece of online content — based on three core journalistic principles: verifiability, transparency and independence.

JET analyses the claims and citations, looks at who wrote it, who published it, and the platform where it is hosted — informing you of what you need to know based on journalistic best practices.

This includes information on proper sourcing and disclosures, funding, ownership, editorial independence, algorithmic transparency and potential conflicts of interest - and makes it visible to the user.

The result: a score and a traffic signal, based on a transparent, structured and challengeable analysis explaining exactly why that score exists.

See how it works in the video.

Who is it for?

JET has a radical belief: that reliable information matters — to everyone.

Whether that belief comes from academic rigour, scientific inquiry, journalistic integrity, personal values, religious values, or simply a desire to understand the world we inhabit, JET is for you.

But reliable information isn't just a personal value. It is the foundation of functioning institutions, democratic systems, legal processes, business decisions and governance. JET is for everyone.

We are all stakeholders in the information we consume. JET gives us the tools to act like it.
